Preparing for exams

Students are encouraged to start revision as soon as possible, with the summer holidays between Year 10 and 11 being the ideal starting point. We also recommend purchasing subject specific revision guides - your teacher will advise you as to the most suitable.

If students or parents have any queries or need help or advice at any time before, during or after the examinations please contact the Examinations Officers - Mrs Langwith or Mrs Longman - Room G90 / 01376 515 756 extension 248 / exams@liftnewrickstones.org.

Exam timetables

Individual exam timetables will be emailed to students’ school email addresses. Please contact our Examinations Officer if you have any questions about the exam timetable.

The awarding bodies (or examination boards) set down strict criteria which must be followed for the conduct of examinations, coursework and controlled assessments and Lift New Rickstones is required to follow them precisely.

Examination certificates

The Academy has a large number of uncollected examination certificates.  These are very important documents which students may need when applying for employment or a place at college or university.  Students are awarded their examination certificates at the annual Celebration and Awards Evenings.  Students who are unable to attend should arrange to collect their certificates from the Academy from the day following the Celebration or Award Evenings (usually in November for GCSE and December for A Level). Certificates are not routinely posted.

The Academy will keep examination certificates for no more than 3 years after the student has left, after which time they will be destroyed. If you are a past student and have not yet collected your certificates please contact the Academy to arrange to do so.  If you are a current pupil and have older siblings or friends who may not have collected their certificates please remind them to do so.
